Integration creates clearer structure for Sneakersnstuff

Sneakersnstuff operates across multiple markets and companies, placing high demands on its integrations. Two years ago, the company underwent a major and complex system integration project in which Sneakersnstuff migrated its e-commerce platform to Shopify, with the migration completed in just four weeks. Codeunit acted as the migration partner in the project, and since then the collaboration has continued to evolve. The result is a clearer structure and a more optimized workflow.

“Sneakersnstuff has spent the past 18 months working intensively to build a leaner and less complex tech infrastructure that allows SNS to focus on their core business of selling sneakers. Working with multiple warehouses, organizations and customers in different markets and currencies is still very complex, but we’re now running it on a different infrastructure setup, which makes it much easier to manage,” says Henry Lee, Head of Tech at Sneakersnstuff.

A brand built around a strong community

Sneakersnstuff, also known as SNS, was founded in 1999 by Erik Manzano Fagerlind and Peter Jansson with a store in Södermalm, Stockholm. At the core of the company is the community that has grown around sneaker and streetwear culture, and the brand has become well known for collaborations with companies such as Adidas, Nike and Jordan. Sneakersnstuff quickly expanded into an international retail chain and today has stores in Paris, Berlin, London, and Stockholm. The company also sells products worldwide through its own e-commerce platform.

“My goal is for the company to become as self-sufficient as possible. Now that the rebuilding phase is done, we have a much more optimized operation ready to scale. Our ambition is to run the business as efficiently as possible, with the leanest organization possible,” says Henry.

A complex integration completed in record time

Henry Lee joined Sneakersnstuff two years ago and immediately became involved in the complex integration project. It was also at this time that SNS first connected with Codeunit. Discussions moved quickly, and after just a few days the companies had signed an agreement. An intense period followed, with daily communication and rapid mapping of data. Within four weeks, the integration between Business Central and Shopify was completed.

“The architecture was too complex to rely on a standard connector. It’s significantly more advanced than what many other Shopify retailers work with. Codeunit has been extremely flexible and has really helped us create the best possible structure in the mapping process. The mapping isn’t as simple as doing one-to-one connections. We have several Business Central environments, and in the beginning we also had more Shopify storefronts. With the help of Codeunit, we’ve reduced the number of storefronts,” says Henry.

Multiple markets and several legal entities

SNS simplified its way of working by switching to Shopify, while the complexity of the system architecture still remains. The company operates across many markets, resulting in a complex setup involving multiple legal entities with separate accounting structures, intercompany sales, and global order management that all need to function correctly.

“Our Shopify storefronts need to send data to multiple Business Central environments based on specific logic and conditions so everything is accounted for correctly. Those integrations become very heavy and complex. If a sale is made from a store, you need to know where the sale took place and which location ID is involved so the transaction is routed to the correct BC entity. Returns also need to be created between companies, which means an InterCompany solution is required. We’ve really had to navigate things as we go. I think Codeunit probably considers us their most complex setup,” says Henry.

Clearer structure and better visibility

This extensive integration project together with Codeunit has resulted in a clearer structure and a more optimized workflow for SNS. The company no longer needs to switch between storefronts as frequently, and they now have much better visibility into their data flows through Codeunit’s portal. SNS currently has several ongoing projects together with Codeunit, including further development of the SNS returns process to optimize and streamline returns management even further.

“When we first started discussing things with Codeunit, we felt they were a highly interesting and relevant partner who could help us map all the data between our different systems in the best possible way. This type of logic and mapping needs to be handled with precision and at a very detailed level to avoid errors. At SNS, we’re very happy with our collaboration with Codeunit so far. They’ve been extremely supportive and very quick to iterate,” Henry concludes. The rebuilding phase was very intense, but necessary. With the right systems and integrations now in place, SNS is well equipped for the future.
